Journey Ministries gives away formal dresses

On January 17, Journey Ministries announced that it will unite with more than 500 churches around the world to host a Night to Shine event on Friday, February 9, which is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom-like experience, which is centered on God’s love and is specifically for people with special needs who are ages 14 and older. This worldwide movement will take place in all 50 states and 15 countries around the world… and the numbers continue to grow!

Land and Table for Small Farmers

Every Second Tuesday of the month a group of small farmers and others meet at the Local APX Market to have a potluck dinner and discuss issues effecting small farmers in the Appomattox County area.

Enjoying the Delicious Potluck

There were nearly 30 people in attendance and afterwards Jason Fowler, the founder of the organization, spoke and everyone participated in a discussion about connecting with those needed to build and support the farming community and also connect with the local community and market.

Attending was a variety of people, including farmers that raised livestock from Yaks to making jams, a chef, business coach and people interested in finding out more about their community.

We do This for Their Healthy Future

The food that is prepared by participants is healthy and delicious.  Last nights spread included:  Beef & Cabbage;  Roasted Italian Dressed Brussels Sprouts with Roasted Garlic Potatoes; 5 layer dip with Humus, Guacamole, Sour Cream, Salsa and Cheese; Zucchini Soup; Venison; Yak Chili; Cabbage Potato Stew with Onions/Peppers and Bratwurst made out of Pastured Pork; Sweet Potato and Kale Quiche, Organic Bread and Grass Fed Butter.

Raider Mites complete their season with a 9—1 record

On Saturday, November 18, the Appomattox Raider Mites (7-8 year olds) youth football team traveled to Williams Stadium on the campus of Liberty University to take on the Forest Black Cavaliers in the Second Annual Blue Ridge Bowl, sponsored by Dick’s Sporting Goods.
